The City of Port Lavaca is a home rule charter run by the city council and the city manager.
The legislative and governing body of the City Of Port Lavaca consists of a Mayor and 6 Councilpersons. The Mayor is elected at large; one Councilperson is elected from each of the 6 districts; all elected officials serve two (2) year terms unless removed from office through the provisions of the Home Rule Charter.
